Frequently Asked Questions
Does telehealth work as well as in-person visits?
There is evidence to support that telehealth can be just as effective as face-to-face visits. If you would like to read more on this topic, here are some articles to review:

What kind of equipment do I need for a telehealth visit?
Generally speaking, any computer, phone, or tablet works with our video platform, so long as you have a working video camera and microphone. However, because cell phone reception can be inconsistent, it’s required that your device be connected to a strong Wifi or ethernet connection during your visit so that we can communicate without signal interruptions. We recommend that you use a computer if at all possible, but understand if that isn’t always an option.
What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner?
A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is a professional who started their career as a registered nurse (RN) but returned to graduate school to further their education. Nurse Practitioners can be educated at the masters or doctoral level. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) receive graduate level education in research and direct patient care to provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment, including psychopharmacological interventions and therapy.
Do you prescribe controlled substances?
No. This practice does not prescribe controlled substances, including benzodiazepines (ativan, xanax, clonazepam, valium, etc) or stimulants (ritalin, adderall, vyvanse, dextroamphetamine, methylphenidate, etc). If you are seeking these medications, please seek care with another provider.
Will anyone else be involved in my care?
Some professionals that may be involved in your care might include your primary care physician (PCP), therapist(s), or other specialists (such as sleep specialists or neurologists).
What is the process for making an appointment?
Please see instructions under the ‘Appointments’ tab for more information.
